Count Bluntas Bridges Generations on New Golden Goonz Records Re-Mixtape
With hip hop officially crossing the 50-year mark, Golden Goonz Records steps up with a project that doesn’t just celebrate the culture—it connects it. The new Count Bluntas–produced special edition re-mixtape blends legendary classic hip hop verses with original Golden Goonz artist contributions, creating a seamless conversation between eras.
Produced, mixed, and mastered entirely by Count Bluntas, this project is both a tribute and a statement. Classic beats are respectfully reworked, signature Golden Goonz production touches are layered in, and timeless verses are given new life alongside fresh voices who understand the foundation they’re standing on.
From the opening moments of “Golden Era Intro,” Count Bluntas makes it clear this isn’t nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. It’s about craftsmanship, continuity, and respect for the DNA of hip hop.
The early run sets the tone perfectly. Fat Joe’s “Take a Look at My Life” featuring Bianco Plaza pairs raw reflection with modern polish, while Rakim’s “Holy Are You” featuring F-Dub reminds listeners why lyrical discipline is still the gold standard. The balance between classic verses and Golden Goonz features feels natural, not forced—each track sounds like it was built with intention.
One of the project’s standout moments arrives with “Next Episode,” where Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Eminem collide with Count Bluntas’ updated sonic vision. Instead of rewriting history, the remix enhances it, letting the original energy breathe while tightening the overall sound.
From there, the mixtape moves through an elite stretch of hip hop royalty:
- Biggie’s “Unbelievable” featuring Major Lyrics
- “Above the Clouds” featuring Guru, Big L, Inspectah Deck, Frankie Fingaz
- Big Pun’s “You Ain’t a Killer” featuring Zeps
- Jay-Z’s “Takeover” featuring Kool Da Great
- Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones Part II” featuring F-Dub
Each track is treated like a chapter, not a throwaway. Golden Goonz artists step in carefully, adding verses that complement the originals rather than competing with them.
The middle of the tape continues that momentum with 50 Cent’s “Many Men” featuring Bane and a powerful generational moment on “Young Gifted & Black,” where Big Daddy Kane and Count Bluntas share space—past and present locked in respect.
Wu-Tang’s “C.R.E.A.M.” stretches out as a philosophy lesson, followed by classic storytelling on Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story.” Deep cuts from Brand Nubian, Smif-N-Wessun, Beatnuts, and D.I.T.C. reinforce the project’s authenticity and crate-digging spirit.
As the mixtape winds down, Nas’ “It Ain’t Hard To Tell” and “Flava In Your Ear” bring the energy back to raw cypher mode before “Extra Abstract Skillz” gives lyric lovers one final showcase. “Golden Era Outro” closes the project full circle—calm, confident, and complete.
